□ Day 3: Prayer & Fast | Prayer Chain | Word Meditation

Text: John 19:25-27

The Context

Jesus' mother, Mary, and the disciple John are present. Jesus, realizing His mother's distress, entrusts her care to John.

The Crucifixion of Jesus

17 Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle. 19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth, the king of the jews. 20 Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. 21 The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.” 22 Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.” 23 When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. 24 “Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.” This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled that said, “They divided my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.”[a] So this is what the soldiers did.

25 Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman,[b] here is your son,” 27 and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

Reflection:

From the passage I will highlight the verses 25-27.

Makita nato diri na despite of His suffering, still the Lord prioritize His mother’s well-being. He entrusts Mary to John’s care. Our spiritual family represent the presence of our love once “mga mahal nato sa kinabuhi”

What did the disciple? He obey God, ngano kay ni obey man? In verse 27 … this disciple took her into his home.

Because si Lord niingun man siya na “Here is your mother.” Kay in verse 26 baya human na niya giingnan si Mary na “Woman,[b] here is your son,”

Makita nato diri na, the disciple demonstrating loyalty and compassion.

He prioritize others needs over His own suffering. He is still showed empathy and care for His mother’s well-being.

2. Spiritual family: Jesus establishes a new family. He expands the family. Makita nato sa verse na He established a spiritual bond between Mary and John, demonstrating faith-based connections.

3. Discipleship: John's obedience exemplifies devotion to Jesus' teachings.

Reflection Questions

1. What does spiritual family mean to you?

□ Day 2: Prayer & Fast | Prayer Chain | Word Meditation

Luke 23:39-43 (NIV):

39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at Him: "Aren't you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!"

40 But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence?

41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."

42 Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."

43 Jesus answered him, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise."

Reflection:

Makita nato diri ang isa ka criminal unsa siya mo response or mo react about their situation. He mocks Jesus and he said … Aren't you the Messiah? Save yourself and us! While ang isa makita nato na he humbles down to God, he acknowledges God’s innocence and divine authority.

The second criminal recognize his guilt, he is guilty of what happen to God. Dili unta deserve ni Lord na ilansang sa cross pero still gilansang siya sa cross for the sin of all people, the criminal accepts responsibility for his actions and acknowledges God's justice.

The second criminal demonstrates faith in Jesus' kingdom and requests remembrance. He has a faith in God and he repent to God. He has a repentance in his heart.

With this, Jesus promises to him and He assures the criminal that he will join Him in paradise, indicating forgiveness and salvation.

Lessons we get from the verse:

1. Salvation through faith: The passage illustrates that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, regardless of past actions.

2. God's mercy: Jesus' response demonstrates God's mercy and willingness to forgive.

3. Redemption: The criminal's transformation from condemnation to salvation symbolizes redemption through Jesus.

□ Day 1: Prayer & Fast | Prayer Chain | Word Meditation

Luke 23:26-43

My reflection

Though he is not deserving sa sacrifices but still the Lord suffered for us. He was crucified on behalf of our sin.

There is repentance and the result of his repentance is forgiveness from all of his sin.

Ang promise ni Lord sa iyaha nga maka-uban siya sa paraiso kauban si Lord and that is the reward of his truly repentance from all of his mistakes.

His suffering, still the Lord is asking for the forgiveness of the persecutors. He is asking God na pasayloon sila ang mga tawo kay wala sila masayun actually sa ilang gihimo.

The Lord also prayed to God asking forgiveness on behalf of His persecutor, “34Unya miingon si Jesus, “Amahan, pasayloa sila kay wala sila mahibalo sa ilang gibuhat.”

Grabi ang heart ni Lord! He is the best model of forgiveness! Though dili gyud lalim labi na ug kana nga tawo grabi ug nabuhat nga mali sa atoa pero for the sake of the Lord, we will forgive because this is what the Lord want us to do.

Makita nato diri nga si Lord nag exemplifies of mercy and compassion to the people and that is forgiveness. He redeemed us from our sin, from being a slave of sin, he sacrifices for humility, He humble down, nagpaubos siya to left us up.

Kaya ang dapat natong himoon is to practice forgiveness and do it for the glory of God.

My application is to act like what jesus want me to do. I will forgive those people na nasipyat sa akoa. I will always practice forgiveness.

I will always remember what God did on the cross just to forgive me.
